Commander Keith P. McTigue received his commission from the Coast Guard Academy in 1991. His first assignment was Deck Watch Officer aboard USCGC LAUREL (WLB-291) home-ported in Mayport, FL. After selection to flight school, he attended Naval Flight Training in Pensacola, FL and earned his wings in May 1995.
Commander McTigue’s aviation assignments have included Coast Guard Air Station Houston, TX, Air Station North Bend, OR and multiple tours at Air Station Kodiak, AK. He has served on 10 shipboard Aviation Detachments and has 3,600 flight hours in the H-65 Dolphin and the HC-130 Hercules.
From 2001 to 2005, Commander McTigue was assigned to Coast Guard Headquarters, Office of Aviation Forces. He served as the platform manager and sponsor’s representative for the acquisition and missionization of the HC-130J.
In 2006, he returned to Air Station Kodiak, AK and from 2007-2009 served as Operations Officer, responsible for operational risk management and flight operations throughout an area encompassing 4 million square miles.
Commander McTigue’s most recent assignment from 2009-2012 was as the Deputy Group Commander and Air Station Executive Officer at Group-Air Station North Bend, OR. Responsibilities included oversight of Coast Guard operations and personnel management in Central and Southern Oregon.
Commander McTigue has a bachelor of science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Coast Guard Academy and a master of science degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Houston. His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Coast Guard Achievement Medal and various unit and service decorations.
