The Ombudsman is a vital link between the command, crew, and families of crewmembers.
The Ombudsman assists the command and aids in referring individuals with
problems to the proper resources. The Ombudsman will also forward
ideas from the families to the appropriate office. For those seeking
guidance about particular problems, the Ombudsman attempts to find the best
resources possible to assist the individual or the family. When crewmembers are on duty or operating during times of local or national emergencies, mobilizations, deployments, or evacuations, the Ombudsman serves as the principal source of assistance and support to Coast Guard families.
Please do not hesitate to make use of this family resource.
The Ombudsman is not qualified nor is expected to act as a counselor to Coast Guard families, but rather to provide a liaison between the Sector Commander and families. The Ombudsman is, however, a great resource for all available support programs, including Chaplain assistance, the Employee Assistance Program, Family Advocacy, and Health Care Advisors.
