Plans & Exercises: Planning Department (S5/7)
The Planning Department is responsible for:
Operational and Contingency Planning – produce guidance and policy to best address potential and recognized risk areas with respect to CG missions. This includes planning and conducting drills and exercises for all mission areas.
Process Analysis – we develop policy and process improvement based upon observations and lessons learned.
Organizational and Project Management – lead projects that have unit wide impact or that span departmental responsibilities, such as The Portland Rose Festival. During elevated MARSEC levels and operational evolutions, Planning personnel fill operational staff positions and direct unit operations.
Ready for Operations (RFO) – implement the RFO program to ensure the operational capabilities of Station Portland, CGC BLUEBELL, and ANT Kennewick.
Management of the Area Maritime Security Committee (AMSC) under the authority of the Federal Maritime Security Coordinator (FMSC).
