Captain Arthur Snyder is a native of Canal Fulton, Ohio where he enlisted in the United States Guard in 1979.  He served the first ten years of his career as an avionics technician and qualifying as a flight mechanic on both the H52 and H-65 helicopters.  He advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7) and then applied for Officer Candidate School.

Upon receiving his commission in 1989 he served as a project manager for the Chief, Engineering and Logistics Management Office in Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, DC and then entered naval flight training in Pensacola, Florida.  After earning his “Wings of Gold” in 1993 he flew the H-65 helicopter for the next fifteen years from bases in the Caribbean and the Great Lakes.  In 2008, he returned to Washington, DC where he served as the Coast Guard’s Chief, Aviation Resources and Planning division and in 2009 he fleeted up to the Deputy for the Office of Aviation Forces providing programmatic oversight for the Coast Guard’ Aviation program.  He then transferred to District Eleven where he served as the Chief, Incident Management Branch.

Captain Snyder has earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and a Master’s degree in Management Information Systems Project Management.  He holds both a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Fixed Wing license and a Rotary Wing Airline Transport Pilot license.  He is also a member of the Project Management Institute and holds a Professional Project Management certification.  He has earned two Meritorious Service Medals, three Commendation Medals, and six Achievement medals.
