Security Levels

Welcome aboard to USCGC HALIBUT (WPB 87340)!

Reporting Procedures

You should have been sent a 'Welcome Aboard Message' with the name and contact information of your sponsor. If you have not already done so, you are encouraged to contact your sponsor as soon as possible. Your sponsor will be able to answer any questions you have about the cutter, area, reporting date/time, etc.

HALIBUT is underway 2,000 hours a year; inport, time is primarily spent on maintenance and training. HALIBUT follows tropical hours inport (0700 – 1300). Family members can keep up-to-date with what is happening by subscribing to the HALIBUT BREAKWALL newsletter. To be added to the distribution list, Contact the Base.

ICS Training

All new crewmembers are required to complete ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 online courses prior to reporting aboard. ICS onlinetraining can be found by clicking the links below.

Non-rates reporting aboard will be living in government housing located in either Redondo Beach or San Pedro.

Petty Officers are entitled to Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH). You can check your BAH rate here. It is highly recommended you find housing close to homeport in Marina Del Rey because patrol boats are often in a recall status that requires you to be able to return to the ship quickly. If BAH is not desired, members can contact the Housing Officer at 310-732-7560, to be put on the military housing list. Military housing is located at Ft. McArthur in San Pedro, CA.

Once again, welcome aboard USCGC HALIBUT (WPB 87340)!

LTJG James M. Hurtt
Commanding Officer
