Welcome to USCGC Dorado
Our homeport is Crescent City, California which is on the Oregon and California border (approximately 21 miles away from Oregon).The population is approximately 8,800. The nearest cities are Eureka, CA - 90 minutes to the south and Brookings, OR - 30 minutes to the north. The nearest large city is Portland, OR which is about 5 hours to the north.
The nearby Smith River is one of the only naturally flowing non-dammed big rivers still in the Country. Multiple National and State parts as well as countless outdoor activities are available.

| Reporting Uniform | Please report in Tropical Blue Long uniform and bring a full sea bag, including complete sets of ODU'S, Service Dress Blue and gym gear. We typically wear ODU'S on a daily basis. You will also be issued gear for cold weather environment upon arrival. |
| Housing | Unmarried E4 and below will be given quarters in a local leased housing complex, Sea Wood Village, which consists of a two bedroom duplex with kitchen, garage and about 1000 square feet. You may or may not have a roommate from the ship.
Married and/or E5 and above, you will be given Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) for Zip Code 95531 and will live on the economy. The The Daily Triplicate is the local newspaper. |
| Athletic Program | Once per week the CGC Dorado conducts team sports. In accordance with Coast Guard Regulations, everyone is expected and given one hour to exercise three times per week. Crewmembers have access to the local gym, The Club. A local pool is available for free. |
| Dependant support and information | The Unit Ombudsman is Tia Mickee. Sutter Coast Hospital is the local emergency care giver and the CGC Dorado is supported by Tri Care remote. The nearest CG medical facility is in Humboldt Bay, or Travis Air Force Base. |
| Access to/from Crescent City | The local Crescent City airport has three flights per day. The next closest larger airports are Arcata, 90 minutes south, and Medford, 2 hours northeast. |
