Roy R. Brubaker

Lieutenant Commander Roy R. Brubaker, a native of Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, graduated from Recruit Training in Cape May, New Jersey, in February 1992. During his six years of service in the enlisted ranks, LCDR Brubaker advanced to Quartermaster First Class and served on four cutters: CGC CONFIDENCE, CGC NAUSHON, CGC POINT EVANS, and CGC STATEN ISLAND. In October of 1997, LCDR Brubaker was selected for Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Yorktown, Virginia.

After graduating from OCS in February of 1998, LCDR Brubaker was stationed aboard CGC GENTIAN, a 180-foot Buoy Tender. CGC GENTIAN was decommissioned shortly after his arrival, and the majority of the crew and he crossed decks to newly built CGC ELM and became the plank owner crew of the cutter. After serving aboard ELM, LCDR Brubaker was transferred to CGC KINGFISHER, where he became the plank owner Commanding Officer of the newly commissioned cutter home ported in Mayport, Florida. After a successful tour on KINGFISHER, LCDR Brubaker transferred to Afloat Training Group (ATG) Mayport, Florida, where he served as the Senior Training Liaison Officer. In July of 2004, LCDR Brubaker departed ATG Mayport and reported as Commanding Officer of CGC HENRY BLAKE, home ported in Everett, Washington. After two years aboard HENRY BLAKE, LCDR Brubaker transferred to Miami, Florida, where he currently served as Chief, Waterways Management Branch (dpw) for the Seventh Coast Guard District. In June 2009, LCDR Brubaker assumed command of CGC ASPEN.

LCDR Brubaker's military awards include two Coast Guard Commendation Medals, the Navy Commendation Medal, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals, and two Commandant's Letter of Commendation. He also wears the permanent Cutterman's Pin signifying more than five years of qualified sea service.
