The Command Cadre of Station Boothbay Harbor consists of a BMC Officer in Charge, a BMC Executive Petty Officer and an MK1 Engineering Petty Officer. Additionally a BM1 acts as Operations and 1st Lieutenant to assist the Command with day-to-day operations.
Machinery Technician First Class Michael Madden assumed the duties of the Engineering Petty Officer (EPO) for Station Boothbay Harbor in Apr 2014. MK1 is from San Antonio, TX and enlisted in the Coast Guard in March 2005. Upon completion of recruit training his first assignment was CGC NEAH BAY home ported in Cleveland, OH. MK1 Madden quickly qualified as Oiler and then advanced to MK3. After advancing to MK3, MK1 Madden attained the Officer of the Day (OOD) qualification. A year and a half later MK1 Madden advanced to MK2 and attained his EOW qualification. In 2008 MK1 Madden transferred to Sector Corpus Christi were he attained Faciltiy inspector, Pollution Responder and Federal On Scene Coordinator. In 2012 MK1 Madden transferred to Station Southwest Harbor, ME as the AEPO where he obtained 47' MLB crewmember, 47'MLB Engineer, 25 RBS crewmember and Boarding Officer (BO). In November 2013 he advanced to MK1 and then transferred to STA Boothbay Harbor in April 2014. MK1 Madden's personal awards include a three Coast Guard Achievement Medals, two Coast guard Letter of Commendation and three Coast Guard Good Conduct Medals.
BM1 is a native of Ocean City, NJ and enlisted in the Coast Guard in November 2004. Upon completion of recruit training BM1 Ellison attended BM "A" School and graduated as a BM3 in October 2005. His frist assignment was the CGC Jefferson Island. As a BM3 he qualified as a Boat Crewmember, Coxswain, Boarding Team Member, and Officer of the Day (OOD). In 2007 he reported to Station Atlantic City in NJ. While at Station Atlantic City, BM1 Ellison was qualified as a Crewmember on the 47’MLB, 25’RB-S, and 24' SPCSW. BM1 was also a Coxswain and Heavy Weather Coxswain, a Boarding Officer (BO), and an OOD. He advanced to BM2 in April 2008. BM1 Ellison reported to Station Boothbay Harbor in 2011, where he quickly qualified as a Crewmember, Coxswain, Heavy Weather Coxswain, BO and station OOD. He fleeted up to the Operations/1st Lieutenant position in July 2013 and advanced to BM1 in September 2013. BM1 Ellison’s personal awards include a Coast Guard Achievement Medal and two Coast Guard Good Conduct Medals.
