The Local Housing Office provides housing assistance and referral information from the Boothbay Harbor, Maine area to Portsmouth, NH. The Portland Housing Office Programs encompass a Referral Service, Rent Set-Aside Program, Government Leasing Program, Government Owned Housing and Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH).

HRS provides assistance to military personnel and their dependents in locating decent, affordable, off-base housing in the Southern Maine area. The HRS has 2 active programs:

CG Leasing Program provides housing to military personnel in areas that lack adequate housing facilities on-base or nearby. SEC NNE Housing manages 2 leasing programs: a Family Leased Housing Program and Unaccompanied Personnel Leased Housing. To apply for the leasing program the following documentation must be submitted to the Housing Office:
CG SEC NNE Portland's Housing program manages seven CG owned housing units: 1 in Arrowsic, 2 in Boothbay Harbor, 2 in Cape Elizabeth and 2 in New Castle, NH. Eligibility for assignment to government housing is based on a members control date, bedroom entitlement and rank.

Sector Northern New England has Unaccompanied Personnel Housing in South Portland.
If you have family and are intending to relocate them to this area, it is imperative that you contact the Housing Office at (207) 780-3071 or (207) 780-3074 as soon as possible prior to your departure from your current unit. If you are single, a release from mandatory assignment to government housing must be obtained from our office prior to procuring housing in the civilian sector. All members are cautioned to not accept or enter into any housing agreements without speaking with a Housing Representative.
Members reporting to Sector Northern New England, Portland, must obtain a written "Release From Assignment To Government Housing" from our office prior to procuring housing in the civilian sector.
Request for housing or release from assignment should be submitted at least 35 days before arrival date and the package must include a completed Application For Assignment to Military Housing Form (CG-5267), the latest updated copy of BAH Dependency Data Form (CG-4170A) and a copy of Standard Travel Orders For Military Personnel (CG-5131). Copy of transfer message or Enlisted Travel Orders listing reporting date and unit is acceptable.
