The goal of the Ready for Operations (RFO) Team is to ensure that all Cutters, Stations, and Aids to Navigation Teams under the Operational Control of Sector Northern New England (SNNE) are properly trained, qualified, certified, and outfitted properly so that the personnel assigned to these units can execute all assigned Coast Guard missions safely and effectively.
Mission
The SNNE RFO team shall:
Evaluate the unit training program with regard to documentation and currency maintenance in accordance with applicable Coast Guard Directives.
Ensure written testing of unit personnel (Stations/Aids to Navigation only).
Evaluate the unit Survival Systems Program with regard to documentation, condition, and use of equipment in accordance with the Rescue and Survival Systems Manual, COMDTINST M10470.10 (series).
Evaluate the unit personal protective equipment program with regard to documentation, issuance, preventative maintenance, and material condition.
Evaluate the material condition of the Cutter/boat platforms for readiness, safety using applicable Coast Guard directives/instructions.
Conduct underway drills/exercises in accordance with applicable Coast Guard directives/instructions.
Assist the unit in preparations for SEOPS/STAN assessments.
Conduct physical fitness evaluations for all Boat coxswains and crew members.
Reports
Upon completion of each unit assessment, a preliminary report will be presented to the Command Cadre, prior to departure, listing the findings of the inspection. Any corrections accomplished by the unit will be reflected in the report prior to submission to the Chain of Command at SNNE.
