Congratulations on your assignment to Coast Guard Sector Northern New England.

The Local Housing Office provides housing assistance and referral information from the Boothbay Harbor, Maine area to Portsmouth, NH. The Portland Housing Office Programs encompass a Referral Service, Rent Set-Aside Program, Government Leasing Program, Government Owned Housing and Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH).

Mandatory Release from Housing

Members reporting to Sector Northern New England, Portland, must obtain a written "Release From Assignment To Government Housing" from our office prior to procuring housing in the civilian sector.

Request for housing or release from assignment should be submitted at least 35 days before arrival date and the package must include:

Completed Application for Assignment to Military Housing CG-5267
Copy of Members PCS Orders
Copy of BAH Dependency Data Form

All E-2 and E-3 personnel (including rated E-3's) can expect to be assigned to the Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH) barracks.

Housing Referral Service

HRS provides assistance to military personnel and their dependents in locating decent, affordable, off-base housing in the Southern Maine area. The HRS has three active programs:

Off Base Community Referrals: Listings of rental & sale properties located within 1 hour commute
Rent Set Aside Program (RSA): RSA Agreement with Resource Residential Properties, Apartments located in Portland and Scarborough, Rental rates discounted 5%, Application fee and security deposit waived, and all CG personnel qualify.
Rental Partnership Program: RPP Agreement with Schott Management in Brunswick in the previous Navy Housing.

Government Leasing Program

CG Leasing Program provides housing to military personnel in areas that lack adequate housing facilities on-base or nearby. Sector NNE Housing manages 2 leasing programs: a Family Leased Housing Program and Unaccompanied Personnel Leased Housing.

To apply for the leasing program the following documentation must be submitted to the Housing Office:

Government Owned Family Housing

CG SEC NNE Portland's Housing program manages 14 CG owned housing units: eight in Thomaston, ME, two in Boothbay Harbor, two in Cape Elizabeth and two in New Castle, NH. Eligibility for assignment to government housing is based on a members control date, bedroom entitlement and rank.

Government Owned Unaccompanied Personnel Housing (UPH)

Sector Northern New England has Unaccompanied Personnel Housing in South Portland.

SEC NNE maintains a 12 Permanent Party room UPH facility for single junior members assigned to the Portland area.
All permanent party personnel occupy single rooms.
Assignment priority is given to Afloat non-rates who are not entitled to Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH).
