Documents and photographs from the cutter's 25-year history
We are in the process of digitizing many important photographs, news
clippings, and documents from PENOBSCOT BAY's history since her keel was
first laid on July 1, 1983. The archive will be divided into sections by
event (in the case of the ship's Commissioning, for example) and by theme (by
mission area). Please continue to re-visit the site as we will be adding
more content on a regular basis. The Archive is the beginning of an ongoing
effort to share the PENOBSCOT BAY story and preserve the legacy left by her
crew.
Archived news coverage of the PENOBSCOT BAY, her crew, and her operations is available in the "Media Center" section of our site. Our content, including newspaper articles, historical video footage, and news photographs, is organized by year and by theme. Newly scanned images will be added regularly.
WEBMASTER'S NOTE: Additional documents: The Coast Guard Historian's Office (CG-09224) maintains an online archive of historical documents of relevance to the Coast Guard and Revenue Cutter Service generally; this archive is available at http://www.uscg.mil/history/histdocsindex.asp
