REPORTING ABOARD KATHERINE WALKER

receiving your welcome aboard message. Feel free to contact your
sponsor at any time during the reporting process. If KATHERINE WALKER
is underway when you arrive in Bayonne, report to Sector New York at
the address listed below. Petty Officer Lapinski, Sector NY Personnel
Office, will coordinate your travel to meet KATHERINE WALKER and answer any questions you may have. He can be reached at (718) 354-4065.
Uniform for reporting is Tropical Blue Long from April through November and Service Dress Blue from December through March. Reporting time is between 0700 and 1300.

LOCAL AREA INFORMATION
Bayonne, NJ is located between Newark Bay and New York Harbor. Views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan Skyline can be seen from the cutter. Bayonne is one of the most important industrial hubs on the east coast, hosting the Global Marine Operating Terminal, Bayonne Cruise Port and several oil facilities. Bayonne also has several parks and a bustling shoppping/dining district. Bayonne has easy access to Staten Island, New Jersey and Manhattan.

HOUSING INFORMATION
- Single junior enlisted members can expect to live aboard KATHERINE WALKER until initial qualifications are complete and government leased housing is available in Bayonne.
- Other reporting personnel can expect to live either in government leased housing in Bayonne, government housing at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island or on the economy. Ensure you work with your sponsor to learn which housing arrangement you will be assigned. If it is determined that you will be living in Staten Island’s Coast Guard housing, contact Sector New York Housing Office. If it is determined that you will be living on the economy, ensure you contact Sector New York Housing Office to obtain a release from mandatory government housing. While this is not usually a problem, ensure you make the right calls prior to signing any lease.
