Lieutenant Robert A. Cole graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in May 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. Upon graduation he served aboard USCGC SEDGE (WLB 402), which was a 180' buoy tender homeported in Homer, Alaska. After SEDGE, he commisioned USCGC HICKORY (WLB 212), also stationed out of Homer, Alaska.
Upon completion of Lieutenant Cole's tour aboard HICKORY he served as the Executive Officer aboard USCGC BLOCK ISLAND (WPB 1344), homeported in Atlantic Beach, NC, where he served from 2004 to 2006.
In 2006 Lieutenant Cole transfered to New London, CT as an instructor at the Officer Candidate School located at the United States Coast Guard Academy. In 2009 Lieutenant Cole left the Officer Candidate School Instructor position and was selected to serve as the Aid to the Superintendant of the United States Coast Guard Academy, Rear Admiral J. Scott Burhoe.
In 2010 Lieutenant Cole departed the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and reported aboard USCGC JUNIPER (WLB 201) where he is currently serving as the Executive Officer.
