Mission

The Environmental Health and Safety Department (EHS) exists to support the missions of Air Station Cape Cod and USCG tenant commands by implementing safe working conditions and protection of our limited natural resources. EHS is responsible for compliance with requirements of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), MA Dept. of Environmental Protection (DEP), US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), MA Dept. of Labor Standards (DOLS) and the MA Fire Marshal Office (FMO). EHS is the primary point of contact for the Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure Plan (SPCC) and for reporting spills to regulators.

 

Per Executive Order 13423 the USCG commands on the Massachusetts Military Reservation utilize an ISO 14001 compliant Environmental Management System (EMS) to minimizes operational impacts on our land, water and air quality. Please click here to read the Captain's Environmental Policy Statement.

The OSHA and Ground Safety program serves to promote a safe and healthful work environment for the US Coast Guard at Air Station Cape Cod and tenant commands.  The EHS Safety Officers commit to working closely with personnel to effectively prevent accidents and fires at work as well as in Base Housing.  A successful program is cultivated when Safety Officers and All Hands are dedicated to preventing hazards.
