The pharmacy is staffed by a PHS Pharmacy Officer and “C” school trained pharmacy technicians. The pharmacy provides medications to all eligible beneficiaries with the exception of individuals enrolled in the U.S. Family Health Plan. Please see the Pharmacy page for additional details.

As of January 1st 2013 the pharmacy will accept outside prescriptions mornings only: 0800-1100 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. This is to allow pharmacy to contribute to Patient Centered Wellness Home for Active Duty patients.
As per the MEDICAL MANUAL, COMDTINST M6000.1.E "Prescriptions written by civilian providers will only be honored at Coast Guard facilities with a Registered Pharmacist is in the facility". During periods when the pharmacist is absent, the pharmacy technicians are only able to process refills in accordance with the mandatory refill policy. Medications are provided free of charge. The best option for chronic medications is the Tricare Mail Order Pharmacy which will provide a 90 days supply of medications at the Copay amounts of $0 (generic), $13 (brand), or $43 (Non-formulary). The pharmacy will only fill prescriptions that are on the clinic formulary for all entitled beneficiaries (Tricare for Life, Tricare Prime, Tricare Extra, Tricare Standard). The pharmacy is prohibited from filling prescriptions for beneficiaries enrolled in U.S. Family Health Plan commonly referred to as Brighton-Marine.

The pharmacy will provide a 30 day supply of medications as applicable and as budgets constraints allow. For controlled substances, no refills are allowed. The one exception which allows a 90 day supply is for Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD) and for seizure disorders treated with Phenobarbital where the pharmacy can dispense a 90 day supply at a time.
Prescription transfers to retail pharmacies from Kaehler Medical Clinic can only be performed when the Pharmacist is on premises and it can only be done once. This means that if a prescription is transferred out, it cannot be transferred to another pharmacy which may mean a new prescription will be required from your physician. Kaehler Medical Clinic will not transfer prescriptions in from another pharmacy.
Refills must be called in to 508-968-6571 and will be available at 1300 the following business day (available Friday mornings).
The pharmacy maintains an Over-the-Counter (OTC) Program that makes available a variety of OTC items to eligible beneficiaries. These items are available directly from the pharmacy with a limit of two items per week per family. A current valid military I.D. (Active Duty, Dependant, Retiree) is required in order to receive these items.
