The Douglas A. Munro USCG Headquarters Building (CGHQs) is located on the St. Elizabeth’s Campus in Southeast Washington D.C. The following address should be entered into your GPS:

The best map address to use for driving directions to CGHQs:

DO NOT use the Martin Luther King Jr AVE SE address on Apple or Google Maps.

 

VIA PERSONAL VEHICLE:

  • Map to 1790 Ash Street
  • Continue driving straight to guard shack
  • Follow the directions of the uniformed parking attendants.
  • If taking the elevators, go to  “P4” or “P6”
  • If walking through garage, look for a USCG member in uniform for direction
  • USCG members will assist with the check in and security screening process.

 

VIA LYFT/UBER:

  • Map to 1790 Ash Street
  • Bear LEFT to small parking lot for drop-off.
  • Walk up short flight of stair to Visitor Center.
  • There will be a USCG member in uniform who will assist with the security screening. After passing security screening, guests will walk or take a shuttle to the event.

 

Driving from Maryland:

  • Follow US-50 W, I-495 S/I-95 S and Suitland Pkwy to Firth Sterling Ave SE in Washington
  • Drive to St. Elizabeth’s Ave SE, follow the road to the Visitor Center parking on your left.
  • Drive to the guard shacks, show ID and then continue into the garage where parking attendants will give you further instructions.

 

Driving from Springfield, Virginia:

  • Follow I-95 N and I-295 N to Barry Rd SE
  • Take exit 3A from I-295 N
  • Drive to St. Elizabeth’s Ave SE, follow the road to the Visitor Center parking on your left.
  • Drive to the guard shacks, show ID and then continue into the garage where parking attendants will give you further instructions.

 

Driving from Arlington, Virginia:

  • Follow I-395 N to Washington
  • Take exit toward South Capitol St/Nationals Park from I-695
  • Follow S Capitol St SW to St Elizabeth’s Ave SE, follow the road to the Visitor Center parking on your left.
  • Drive to the guard shacks, show ID and then continue into the garage where parking attendants will give you further instructions.

 

By Metrorail and Metrobus:

The closest Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) Metrorail station to the St. Elizabeth’s campus is the Anacostia station on the Green line. WMATA operates weekday Metrobus service between the Anacostia station and the St. Elizabeth’s campus.

 

The Anacostia-Fort Drum Line:

The A4 and the W5, stops at Bus Bay G at the Anacostia Metro station. Weekday service from Anacostia begins at 5:12 a.m., and the last bus departs from CGHQ at 7:05 p.m. Buses run about every ten minutes during rush hours and every 20 minutes otherwise.
