Command Master Chief Kevin Isherwood assumed duties as Command Master Chief for the Chief of Staff, U.S. Coast Guard, Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, D.C., in June 2008.
A 1982 graduate of Montville High School in CT, he is an Electrician's Mate by trade. He advanced to Chief Petty Officer in Aug 1992, made Master Chief in 1998 and first became a Command Master Chief in 2003.
Most recently Master Chief Isherwood served as the Command Master Chief for the Coast Guard Pacific Area Commander.
Other tours include, CMC for Coast Guard District 14, Naval Engineering Support Unit Seattle, and CGCs MIDGETT, SASSAFRASS, RUSH, MUNRO.
While in USCGC MIDGETT he had the unique experience of serving as the Silver Badge Command Master Chief deploying to the Persian Gulf as part of the USS CONSTELLATION Battle Group.
In addition, to being a proud graduate of the Chief Petty Officer’s Academy, Class XXXI, Master Chief Isherwood graduated from the Navy Command Master Chief course, Class II and from the Coast Guard Command Master Chief course, Class I and attended the Joint Services Keystone course. He is a Coast Guard’s Wellness Program Specialist, has completed DEOMI Senior Leader Awareness Training, the Coast Guard’s Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) courses.
Command Master Chief Isherwood’s personal awards include three Meritorious Service Medals, two Coast Guard Commendation Medals with Operational Distinguishing Device, three Coast Guard Achievement Medals with Operational Distinguishing Device, a Coast Guard Letter of Commendation, seven Coast Guard Good Conduct Medals, the Coast Guard Permanent Cutterman's Pin and 23 other unit and team awards.
