The Coast Guard's Work-Life Program is managed by the Office of
Work-Life, a Headquarters program manager staff within the Health, Safety
and Work-Life Directorate, reporting to the Assistant Commandant for Human Resources. This
staff is responsible for establishing, developing and promulgating Work-Life
policy and interpreting program standards for Coast Guard-wide
implementation. The overall objective is to support the well-being of active
duty, reserve and civilian employees and family members.
On December 8, 2010, the
President approved the Presidential Study Directive report on
"Strengthening our Military Families: Meeting America's Commitment."
The President, First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, the Uniformed Service
Chiefs (including the Coast Guard), and other government leaders
joined together in a long term commitment to ensure our military
members and their families have the resources they need to be their
