CAPT Koermer

Captain James C. Koermer, USCG, is the Deputy Commander of the Coast Guard’s Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Information Technology Service Center (C4IT SC).

CAPT Koermer graduated from the U. S. Coast Guard Academy with honors in 1990 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.  In 1994, he earned a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.

Captain Koermer's previous assignments include Student Engineer and Damage Control Assistant onboard USCGC CONFIDENCE (WMEC-619), a 210-foot cutter with homeport in Port Canaveral, Florida; Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) Software Development Section Chief at the Electronics Engineering Center (EECEN) in Wildwood, New Jersey; Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4) Division Chief at the Loran Support Unit in Wildwood, New Jersey; Shore Radio Systems Section Chief and Electronics System Support Branch Chief at the Maintenance and Logistics Command Pacific (MLCP) in Alameda, California; Coast Guard Liaison Officer and Maritime Mission Program Manager while on detached duty to the Department of Homeland Security Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO); Information Assurance Policy Division Chief at the Assistant Commandant, Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Information Technology (C4IT) in Washington, District of Columbia; Commanding Officer of the Electronic Systems Support Unit (ESU) Honolulu in Honolulu, Hawaii.  His most recent previous assignment was the Commander of BASE Honolulu in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Captain Koermer's personal awards include four Coast Guard Meritorious Service Medals, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, and three Coast Guard Achievement Medals.

Captain Koermer is the son of James P. Koermer, Lt Col, USAF (Ret) and Joanne A. Koermer. He is married to the former Tamara I. Kramlich of Minot, North Dakota.  They have two children: Natasha and Zachary.
