Base Portsmouth has two Family Advocacy Specialists (FAS). The FASs provide family advocacy case management services, including resources and referrals to Coast Guard families. Of special interest to FASs are families struggling with Spouse Abuse, Child Abuse and Neglect, Parent Abuse, Sibling Abuse, and Elder Abuse and Neglect. Effective care of our families enhances Coast Guard mission effectiveness at work and quality of life at home. Prevention activities, education, quick and appropriate intervention are critical to the success of the family advocacy program. In addition, FASs (along with WorkLife's Family Resource Specialists) also work with families enrolled in the Coast Guard's Special Needs Program. Please contact one of our FASs for more information on family advocacy, domestic violence, or special needs. |
