The Learning Center is located in the Barracks/Galley Building 4, 4th floor.  Enter through the large glass enclosed stairwell up to the 4th floor and enter by the door on the right.

Tuition Assistance

End-of-Course Testing (EOCT):
 
Members must bring a copy of the Rating Performance Qualification. 

ASVAB Testing:

To schedule testing, click here to submit request to ESO.

DSST Testing:
DSST exams are available to active duty and reserve members, and their spouses FREE of charge at an active duty Coast guard site.  An appointment is needed to ensure seating availability.  Dependent children are not eligible for this service.  Members may also opt to take exams at a local college testing center for a small sitting fee.

CLEP Testing:
CLEP examinations are now only available through e-testing at colleges, universities, and national testing center (on a fee basis).  Active and Reserve members in the local area may opt to use North Shore Community College.  Two locations are listed below:

DLPT
Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) Foreign language exam used to certify
CG translators.

Proctoring Services
ESO is available to proctor mid-term and final exams
for CG personnel and their dependents.

Credit for Military Experience

An assessment is documentation of:

*    Your advancement history.
*    Your resident military and non-resident military training.
*    ACE college credit earned for advancements and training.
*    Your DANTES examination credit, professional licensure/certification.

The assessment is for your use in developing your degree plan. Your ESO can assist you with how to use the assessment effectively.

The assessment is used to produce the official transcript. Although you may request both at the same time, an assessment must be done in order to produce an official transcript.

To apply use the Application for Transcript (CGI-1561).

Once complete, the form should be emailed to your ESO for verification & submission to the CG Institute.

Processing Officer Programs for CG Military Personnel -
Counsel personnel on current Officer Programs available.
Assist in assembling appropriate package.

Grants available

CG Foundation Education Grant/Vander Putten Education Grant.
Available to All active duty E-3 to E-9 and reserve E-3 to E-9 currently serving on active duty orders of at least one year are eligible.

CG Foundation Spouse Education Grant. Spouses of active duty enlisted personnel in pay grades E-3 to E-6. Spouses of Reservists (pay grades E-3 to E-6) on any type of active duty orders for at least one year in duration.  

CG Mutual Assistance Supplemental Education Grants.  Available to all CG Personnel and their dependents who are working towards their first Bachelor’s degree.
