Chief Musician Adam Crowe, principal tuba, is a native of Guin, Alabama. He began his musical training at the age of 11 and later attended the University of Alabama where he studied with J. Michael Dunn, former tubist with the U.S. Marine Band and Alabama Symphony Orchestra. MUC Crowe was a finalist in the Arnold Jacobs Mock Orchestral Competition and in the Tuba Quartet Competition at the 1998 International Tuba Euphonium Conference. He was also a winner of the 1998 and 1999 Alabama Federation of Music Clubs Solo Competitions. While in Connecticut, he has enjoyed performing with the Connecticut Virtuosi and Avant Brass Quintet. Adam also serves as conductor for the Classic Brass Band of Willimantic, a British-style brass band consisting of the area’s finest amateur musicians, educators, and students. Most recently, he hosted the International Tuba-Euphonium Association's 2007 Northeast Tuba and Euphonium Conference (NERTEC). MUC Crowe has been a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Band since June 1999.
