PERSONNEL SERVICE CENTER (PSC) TOPEKA HAS MADE NUMEROUS DA AND TPAX MODIFICATIONS IN AN EFFORT TO REDUCE THE SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF MANUAL PASSWORD RESET FUNCTIONS PERFORMED BY THE PSC CALL CENTER. PSC MADE THE FOLLOWING SYSTEM UPGRADES TO PROVIDE MEMBERS A RAPID SELF SERVICE PASSWORD RESET CAPABILITY. A. DA: THE NUMEROUS "SECURITY QUESTIONS" HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE "FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?" FUNCTION AND REPLACED WITH THE PROMPTS: "WHAT IS YOUR DA USER ID?" AND "WHAT ARE THE LAST 4 DIGITS OF YOUR SSN?". ONCE YOU CLICK "EMAIL NEW PASSWORD", A NEW PASSWORD WILL BE SENT TO THE USCG.MIL OR DHS.GOV EMAIL ADDRESS MEMBERS HAVE ESTABLISHED IN THEIR DA "BUSINESS" ADDRESS. ADDITIONALLY, THE "FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?" FUNCTION CREATES AND SENDS A NEW DA PASSWORD TO MEMBERS LOCKED OUT OF THE SYSTEM. B. TPAX: THE LATEST TPAX UPGRADE IMPROVED PASSWORD RESET FUNCTIONALITY. TO REQUEST A NEW PASSWORD, ENTER YOUR USER ID AND CLICK "FORGOTTEN OR NO PASSWORD". A NEW PASSWORD WILL BE SENT TO THE USCG.MIL OR DHS.GOV EMAIL ADDRESS IN YOUR TPAX PROFILE. C. IN ACCORDANCE WITH REF A, USCG.MIL AND DHS.GOV EMAIL ADDRESSES PROVIDE TRANSMISSION WITHIN SECURE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS. POPULATING THE "BUSINESS" EMAIL FIELD OF DA AND YOUR TPAX PROFILE WITH USCG.MIL OR DHS.GOV WILL ENSURE PROTECTED TRANSMISSIONS OF PASSWORDS. D. USING AUTOMATIC PASSWORD RESET FEATURES FOR DA AND TPAX IS THE QUICKEST WAY TO RECEIVE A NEW PASSWORD VIA EMAIL 24/7 WITHOUT HAVING TO CONTACT PSC AND HAVE A MANUAL PASSWORD RESET PERFORMED. 2. REF B AUTHORIZES COAST GUARD WIDE (CG) OUTLOOK WEB ACCESS (OWA) USING COMMON ACCESS CARD (CAC) AND PROVIDES MEMBERS A SECONDARY MEANS FOR ACCESS OF PASSWORD RESETS THROUGH THEIR PERSONAL OUTLOOK INBOX VIA THE WEB. ALL CG MEMBERS WITH LIMITED STANDARD CG WORKSTATION ACCESS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ENABLE OWA FOR THIS PURPOSE. MEMBERS WITH LIMITED STANDARD CG WORKSTATION ACCESS ARE AUTHORIZED TO CONTACT THE PSC CUSTOMER CALL CENTER FOR PASSWORD RESET SUPPORT UNTIL 1 APRIL 2009. MEMBERS WITHOUT STANDARD CG WORKSTATION ACCESS ARE AUTHORIZED TO CONTACT THE PSC CUSTOMER CALL CENTER FOR PASSWORD RESET SUPPORT UNTIL 1 JULY 2009. THESE DEADLINES PROVIDE AMPLE TIME FOR ALL MEMBERS TO ESTABLISH OWA ACCESS WHICH PROVIDES AN ALTERNATIVE MEANS OF DELIVERING AND ACCESSING PASSWORD RESETS. 3. ALL COAST GUARD CIVILIAN AND MILITARY PERSONNEL ARE REQUIRED TO VALIDATE A CORRECT EMAIL ADDRESS IN BOTH THEIR DA AND TPAX PROFILES. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT MEMBERS MAINTAIN USCG.MIL OR DHS.GOV EMAIL ADDRESSES IN BOTH SYSTEMS. COMPLIANCE WITH THIS AUTOMATICALLY ENABLES THE FORGOTTEN PASSWORD RESET FUNCTION IN BOTH SYSTEMS.
