Nominations are being accepted for the Fifth Secretary of DHS Awards Ceremony. The ceremony will be held in the National Capital Region, January 2013 and honor individual and collective achievements across DHS for the period of 1 October 2008 through 30 September 2012. Nominations are solicited for the following categories: Exceptional Service Award (Gold Medal), Meritorious Service Award (Silver Medal), Secretarys Award for Valor, Award for Exemplary Service, Award for Excellence, Award for Outstanding Achievement in Diversity Management, and Award for Volunteer Service. Team nominations are limited to 10-15 employees, one form per team and must include a separate one-page list of members by first name, middle initial, last name, title, unit, component/office, and point of contact for each team nomination submitted. 3. You are encouraged to recognize employees not previously honored with Secretarial awards. These awards are not intended to honor retirees or contractors. Nominations may not be submitted for individuals/teams whose accomplishments are pending final action or involve a pending investigation. Nominations will be reviewed by the Civilian Awards Board prior to Commandant approval, then sent to DHS for final consideration. 4.
