Coast Guard Reserve Awards Panel, COMDTINST 1650.12 (series) 1. The Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs (ASD/RA) and COMDT (CG-13) are soliciting nominations for the 2012 Reserve Family Readiness Award (RFRA). This award is sponsored by ASD/RA to recognize the top unit from each of the Armed Forces Reserve components for their excellence in family readiness and its contribution to mission readiness. Family readiness is a key component of mission readiness, and robust family readiness programs greatly enhance the deployability of Reserve units. 2. Criteria in this message supercede those listed in ref (A). 3. All Coast Guard units with Selected Reserve (SELRES) assigned on the Personnel Allowance List (PAL) are eligible for this award. Nominations should be submitted through the chain of command. Area and District Commanders, Director of Operational Logistics, Assistant Commandants, Deployable Operations Group (DOG), special staff offices at headquarters, and Force Readiness Command are strongly encouraged to each nominate at least one unit for this award. 4. Nomination packages will consist of a one-page cover memo and no more than a two-page summary of action using Times New Roman 12-point font with one inch margins as specified by the office of ASD/RA. The summary of action may be a narrative or bulleted list that addresses recommended indicators of family readiness program success. Nomination packages must also include a completed 2012 RFRA contact and information sheet. Nomination packages must be sent electronically by COB 05 NOV 2012 to the point of contact below. 6. Per ref (B), the Coast Guard Reserve Awards panel will deliberate and submit its recommendations to COMDT (CG-13). COMDT (CG-13) will announce the result via ALCOAST. 7. The Commanding Officer (CO) of the selected unit and a representative of its family support program will be invited to attend an awards ceremony hosted by ASD/RA. The ceremony will be held at the Pentagon on Friday, 01 MAR 2013. COMDT (CG-131) may fund travel and ADOS-RC orders, if necessary, for the unit CO (or Executive Officer) and a representative of the family support program to attend the ceremony. 8.
