SUBJ: 2012 HENAAC GREAT MINDS IN STEM CONFERENCE AND HONOREES
1. The 2012 HENAAC Great Minds in Science, Technology, Engineering
and Math (STEM) Conference will be held 11-13 October 2012 at the
Disney Coronado Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.  Hosted by Great
Minds in STEM (GMIS), this conference provides a forum to recognize
outstanding Hispanics in the STEM field.  It provides excellent
opportunities for professional development, networking, outreach, and
STEM recruiting and specialized STEM training for students and
professionals.  The award ceremony acknowledges the superior
achievements of outstanding professionals in stem disciplines.
Congratulations to the 2012 Coast Guard HENAAC-GMIS Honorees:
    A. CAPT Michael Eagle, AIRSTA Sacremento, HENAAC STEM Military
Heroes Award
    B. Cadet Brian Acuna, USCGA, HENAAC Future STEM Leader Award
    C. Officer Trainee (OT) Christina Ramirez, CGRC, HENAAC Future
STEM Leader Award
2. Each of these members are most deserving of this special
recognition.  Through their distinguished service, they have
epitomized the core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty
and have advanced the Commandants vision of Strengthening our
Partnerships.
3. CFO Approval: The Coast Guard Chief Financial Officer (CG-8), the
USCG senior financial officer, has reviewed and approved USCG
personnel attendance and participation at this conference.  This
approval authorizes service obligation of appropriated funds for the
purpose of attending and supporting participation at the HENAAC-GMIS
