R 182051Z SEP 12 ALCOAST 416/12 COMDTNOTE 1430 SUBJ: MACHINERY TECHNICIAN (MK) OCCUPATIONAL ANALYSIS (OA) SURVEY 1. The OA survey is the means to capture and define the current world of work for the MK rating. 2. All active duty Machinery Technicians will receive an e-mail at the end of September containing a link to the on-line OA survey. The MK OA survey will stay active for six weeks. 3. Commands are requested to ensure ample opportunity is given to their members and all MK personnel are highly encouraged to participate to ensure data contains a diverse array of billet types and pay grades. This input will contribute to the professional development and readiness of the MK workforce. 4. Data collected from the survey will undergo analysis and then be categorized into a report for Program Manager use. The OA report will be used by the MK Rating Force Master Chief (RFMC) to update the MK Rating Performance Qualifications (RPQ) during an upcoming Rating Review. The revised RPQ will drive development of MK resident courses and service-wide examination questions. 5. The survey was developed by the FORCECOM Performance Technology Center (PTC) Occupational Analysis Team in collaboration with the MK RFMC and a team of MK accomplished performers. A. The average completion time is 60 minutes. B. The survey is not required to be completed in one session. It may be saved and resumed at a later time. 6.
