SUBJ: EIGHTH ANNUAL NATIONAL TRAINING FORUM DURING THE  BLACKS IN
GOVERNMENT (BIG) NATIONAL TRAINING CONFERENCE IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN

1. In association with Ref (A), the Coast Guard will hold its Eighth
Annual National Training Forum on Tuesday, 14 August 2012, at the
Detroit COBO Convention Center, 1 Washington Blvd, Detroit, MI, 48226
(2nd Level, Room W262).  Beginning at 0830, the forum is open to all
Coast Guard personnel at no cost.  Maximum participation by civilians
and military members is highly encouraged.
2. Building on the conference theme of Educate to Escalate - Reaching
Your Potential Through BIG, the USCG National Training Forum will
include the following presenters:
     A. VADM Manson K. Brown, Deputy Commandant for Mission Support,
     B. Mr. Curtis B. Odom, Director of Civilian Human Resources,
Diversity, and Leadership,
     C. Mr. J. David Reeves, National President of BIG,
     D. Ms. Carla Grantham, USCG Liaison for Diversity Recruitment
Strategies, and
     E. Dr. Calvin Mackie, Managing Partner, Channel ZerO Group, LLC.
3. Registration fees are required if you plan on attending events
other than the USCG National Training Forum.
