SUBJ: CHANGES TO ADVANCEMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR MACHINERY TECHNICIAN
SECOND CLASS

1. Machinery Technician advancement requirements will follow the
legacy Performance Qualification Guide (PQG) and End of Course Test
(EOCT) system through FY13 and will begin transitioning to the
Enlisted Rating Advancement Training System (ERATS) in FY14.
2. The revised MK2 course (Course 0232, Edition 6) is now available
on the CGPortal  (https://elearning.uscg.mil/catalog) and for
ordering from the CG Institute.  Education Services Officers should
order the new MK2 course materials and EOCT via the Training and
Academia Customer Care Tracking System (TACCTS).  The revised MK2
course and EOCT align with the latest Record of Enlisted Performance
Qualifications (EPQ) - Machinery Technician, Form 3303C-MK (Rev
02/2011).  This form is available on the CGPortal.
3. Personnel are encouraged to begin using the new MK2 course (Course
0232, Edition 6) as soon as practical. A transition period has been
established through 01AUG2012, during which either the old or new
version of the course may be completed for advancement eligibility.
The older version of the MK2 EOCT will not be scored after 01AUG2012.
Per Ref (A), those Machinery Technicians that have passed a previous
MK2 EOCT are not required to pass the new MK2 EOCT.  All EPQs for MK2
must be completed prior to taking the SWE.
