R 221827Z JUN 12 ALCOAST 301/12 COMDTNOTE 1650 SUBJ: COAST GUARD FOUNDATION ENLISTED RESERVE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR 2012-2013 1. COMDT (CG-13) is pleased to announce the application period for the Coast Guard Foundation Enlisted Reserve Scholarships. The Coast Guard Foundation is awarding six 1,000 dollar scholarships to enlisted Coast Guard reservists or their dependents for the 2012-2013 academic year. 2. Applicants must: a. Be an enlisted Coast Guard reservist (SELRES or IRR) or their dependent. Dependents must be registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) under their Coast Guard Reserve sponsor to be eligible. b. Be enrolled in or accepted by an accredited institution in a program leading to a college degree (associates, bachelors, masters, or doctorate), or a two or four year course of study at an accredited technical or vocational training school. c. Maintain the minimum grade point average required by their institution to remain in degree or certificate status. d. Be pursuing their first associates, bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree or technical/vocational certificate. 3. Scholarship applications shall consist of: a. A signed one page cover letter attesting to the eligibility of the applicant per the requirements listed in paragraph 2 above. If the applicant is a dependent, their sponsor must also sign the letter. Include contact phone numbers, email and mailing addresses of both the applicant and the sponsor. b. A one page typed essay on: How my or my sponsor's service in the Coast Guard Reserve has contributed to my success. c. An official transcript from the educational institution attended during the 2011-2012 academic year. If the applicant did not attend classes during the 2011-2012 academic year, submit a transcript from the last educational institution attended. The transcript must be mailed or emailed in PDF format by the educational institution to POC in paragraph 7. Transcripts must be received NLT 18JUL12. 4.
