NOMINATIONS ARE BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE FEDERALLY EMPLOYED WOMEN MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD. THIS AWARD RECOGNIZES MILITARY PERSONNEL WHO HAVE DEMONSTRATED DISTINGUISHED PERFORMANCE THROUGH SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COAST GUARD AND TO OUR NATION. ONE ACTIVE DUTY AND ONE RESERVE MEMBER WILL BE SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE AWARD AND WILL BE RECOGNIZED AT THE MILITARY AWARDS DINNER DURING THE 43RD NATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM AT THE DETROIT MARRIOTT RENAISSANCE CENTER, 16-20 JULY 2012. 2. FOR FORTY-FOUR YEARS, MEMBERS OF FEW HAVE WORKED TO END SEX AND GENDER DISCRIMINATION, TO ENCOURAGE DIVERSITY FOR INCLUSION AND EQUITY IN THE WORKPLACE, AND FOR THE ADVANCEMENT AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH OF WOMEN IN FEDERAL SERVICE. 3. ELIGIBILITY: ALL MILITARY PERSONNEL (ACTIVE AND RESERVE) ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS AWARD. THE PERFORMANCE PERIOD IS MAY 2011 TO MAY 2012. AWARD RECIPIENTS WILL BE HONORED FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO DIVERSITY, EQUALITY, AND THE ADVANCEMENT OF WOMEN WITHIN CG THROUGH ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING ACCOMPLISHMENTS: A. CREATED JOBS OR TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES THAT SUPPORT AND CONTRIBUTE TO THE ADVANCEMENT OF WOMEN IN THE COAST GUARD. B. PARTICIPATED IN MILITARY OR CIVILIAN EVENTS OR PROGRAMS THAT ADVOCATE DIVERSITY, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY, AND THE ADVANCEMENT OF WOMEN. C. DISTINGUISHED THEMSELVES BY PROMOTING THE TENETS OF CIVIL/HUMAN RIGHTS, EQUAL OPPORTUNITY, HUMAN RELATIONS, AND/OR PUBLIC SERVICE. D. DISPLAYED EXCEPTIONAL CHARACTER THAT DISTINGUISHES AN INDIVIDUAL AS AN OUTSTANDING LEADER, ROLE MODEL, OR MENTOR BY PROMOTING THE DEVELOPMENT OR ADVANCEMENT OF ALL CG PERSONNEL INCLUDING WOMEN AND MINORITIES.
