The USCG Academy Company Officer Leadership Studies Program is seeking applications from eligible candidates. One officer will be selected for this full-time graduate degree program commencing summer 2013. 2. This program offers outstanding personal and professional development for high performing officers who are interested in developing future Coast Guard leaders. U.S. Coast Guard Academy Company Officers serve as role models/mentors for cadets and act as practicum supervisors for the Academy leadership development process. Through daily interactions with cadets, Company Officers implement and reinforce sound leadership principles and Coast Guard core values. 3. Officers chosen for this program will attend a one year post graduate school program, earn a Masters degree, and then serve a 3 year follow-on tour as a CGA Company Officer. The academic emphasis of this program includes theory, organizational management, and the Academy leadership development process. Research topics may be coordinated with the Commandant of Cadets Division depending on specific program requirements. 4. Selectees will arrange college choices with the POC listed below. Recent selectees have attended the Eisenhower Leader Development Program (ELDP) at the U.S. Military Academy with a Masters degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University. Recent selectees have also attended the Leadership Education and Development Program (LEAD) at the U.S. Naval Academy with a Masters degree in Professional Studies in Leadership Education and Development. Both programs offer a career enhancing joint service experience.
