THE ALEXANDER HAMILTON AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE WAS DESIGNED TO RECOGNIZE UNITS WHICH DEMONSTRATED THE FINEST EXAMPLES OF ORGANIZATIONAL EXCELLENCE. TO ENSURE THE AWARD WILL MEET COAST GUARD NEEDS INTO THE FUTURE, THE AWARD IS BEING SUSPENDED FOR THE 2012 CYCLE TO ALLOW A THOROUGH REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT. 2. TO HELP ENSURE THAT THIS AWARD RECOGNIZES THOSE UNIT THAT ATTAIN THAT GOAL, THIS DIRECTORATE WILL CONSULT WITH THE FORCE READINESS COMMAND AND THE LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CENTER TO INVESTIGATE THE POTENTIAL FOR INCORPORATING EXISTING UNIT INSPECTIONS AND ASSESSMENTS INTO THE HAMILTON AWARD CRITERIA. THE GOAL IS TO MAKE THE HAMILTON AWARD A TRUE CAPSTONE AWARD FOR ALL UNITS. 3. UNITS CAN USE A VARIETY OF TOOLS TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT PROCESSES THAT FOCUS ON MISSION EXCELLENCE.
