COMCOGARD PSC ARLINGTON VA 231313Z APR 12 ALCGPSC 053/12 B. PERFORMANCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION MANUAL, COMDTINST M1500.10 (SERIES). 1. COMDT (CG-11) is soliciting for officers to submit applications for the 2013 Postgraduate/Advanced Education (PG/Adv Ed) in the Health and Business Administration program. The e-resume application deadline is 08 June 2012. 2. The program is open to commissioned officers, O-2 through O-4, and CWO/MED (primary occupational field 19) who possess a Baccalaureate Degree in any field from an accredited educational institution, or members holding a Postgraduate Degree, not funded by the Coast Guard (CG), who meet the qualifications outlined in Ref (A). 3. The Army-Baylor University graduate program provides selected individuals the opportunity to earn a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), an MHA with a concentration in human resources, or a joint Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration/Masters in Business Administration (MHA/MBA) over a 24 month period. An applicant may choose one of these three degree options if they meet the respective Army-Baylor University admission criteria. The program includes a one-year didactic phase at the Army Medical Department Center and School (AMEDDCS) at Fort Sam Houston, TX and a one-year follow-on residency at a site agreed upon by the program director, individual consultants, and career managers. Those students completing the joint MHA/MBA program will be required to take additional academic hours during the didactic phase as well as distance learning programs during the residency phase for a total of 21 academic hours. 4. Postgraduate training will only be conducted at the AMEDDCS center in Fort Sam Houston, TX. Due to Army requirements, applicants for this program must submit Graduate Record Exam (GRE)/Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) score and transcripts to the Army-Baylor University program while at the same time completing the CG e-resume PG/Adv Ed application process. Anticipate the Army-Baylor University application process to take at least 2 weeks. Details of this application procedure can be obtained by contacting the education technician at Army-Baylor University at, 210-221-6443, or on-line at http://www.baylor.edu/graduate/mha by clicking on "prerequisites" and following the Army-Baylor University instructions. If the applicant is judged eligible to be admitted by Army-Baylor University the applicant will be notified. When the applicant is notified of acceptance or rejection, the applicant shall provide a copy of the letter from Army-Baylor University directly to CG PSC(opm-1), LT Nick Sites, 202-493-1614 or Nicolas.S.Sites(AT)uscg.mil, for inclusion in the application package no later than 20 July 2012. Except as noted, all other application procedures in accordance with Ref (A) should be submitted via the e-resume process in direct access by 08 June 2012. 5. A key component of the application process is the completion of the GRE and/or GMAT test. Applicants considering Advanced Education should plan to take the required tests as soon as possible. Both the GRE and the GMAT are accepted by Army-Baylor University for admission. For the joint MHA/MBA degree option, the minimum acceptable GRE score is 1200 while the minimum GMAT score is 575. For the MHA degree option, you must obtain 50th percentile in each section of the GRE or GMAT (Verbal, Quantitative and Analytical Writing). The minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.9 on a 4.0 scale is also required. Note: graduate course work towards a degree program is not accepted in the computation of the GPA. In addition, applicants who successfully completed course work in statistics and economics at the undergraduate level are encouraged to apply. These areas of study will help ensure successful completion of the Army-Baylor University graduate program. 6. All applicants must expect obligated service requirements as outlined in Ref (B). Selected candidates should also expect an immediate follow-on tour as a Health Services Administrator in one of the larger CG clinics, as a Health, Safety, and Work-Life Regional Practice Manager, as TRICARE liaison at the TRICARE Management Activity or at one of the TRICARE Regional Offices. Future potential follow-on tours include administrative positions at the CG Health, Safety, and Work-Life Service Center (HSWL SC) and staff positions in the HSWL Directorate at CG Headquarters. 7.
