R 122210Z APR 12 ALCOAST 170/12 COMDTNOTE 12451 SUBJ: 2011 COAST GUARD CIVILIAN EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR (CEOY) AND NON-APPROPRIATED FUND EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR (NAF EOY) AWARD SELECTIONS 1. I am pleased to announce the selection of Ms. June D. Ledwith as recipient of the 2011 CEOY Award, and Ms. Wendy W. Weston as the recipient of the 2011 NAF EOY Award. 2. Ms. June D. Ledwith is the Housing Assistant Manager for Sector Northern New England. Ms. Ledwith manages 70 UPH rooms, 16 Coast Guard owned, and 32 leased properties. She is the first person that welcomes incoming personnel and their families upon reporting, creating their first impression of the Sector. Ms. Ledwith produced over 40 Welcome Aboard packages, each one tailored to the individual needs of the incoming Coast Guard family. She championed the Two Lights Lighthouse Keepers Cottage renovation project, attending the contractor pre-construction meetings, checking on historic detail requirements, and following the progress to ensure success of the project. As a volunteer for the Partnership In Education (PIE) Program, Ms. Ledwith used her lunch hour once a week to mentor a student. Her encouragement and constant support helped a struggling student re-engage in school. Recently, Ms. Ledwith helped a group of active duty spouses set up the Sector Northern New England Spouses Network. 3. Ms. Wendy W. Weston is a clerk in the Morale, Well-being, and Recreation (MWR) Department at Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod (ASCC). As a front line employee in the administration office, Ms. Weston responded to an assortment of requests on a daily basis and addressed each customer with a high level of quality service. Ms. Weston was instrumental in the administration of the ASCC MWR Beach Parking Pass Program. This past year, the Beach Pass Program saved MWR customers over 10,000 dollars in fees to access local beaches. Ms. Weston keeps track of more than 536 beach passes for MWR patrons. In addition to helping with other MWR programs, Ms. Westons technical knowledge of computers helped save NAF dollars. She installs, maintains, and repairs NAF computers used in the daily operations of MWRs ten business lines. Her extensive knowledge of computer operations and access to computer-related resources have allowed the MWR Department to transition its website to a more flexible format for advertising MWR services. 4. Please join me in congratulating these employees for a job well done. 5.
