THIS CAMPAIGN, OFFERS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO HIGHLIGHT THE IMPORTANCE OF LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TO RECOGNIZE BEST PRACTICES WITHIN THE COAST GUARD. 2. WHILE THE EXERCISE OF EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP IS OF PARAMOUNT IMPORTANCE EVERY DAY, MEMBERS AND COMMANDS ARE ENCOURAGED TO DEDICATE TIME DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL TO HOLDING LEADERSHIP DISCUSSIONS, IMPLEMENTING OR DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE UNIT LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES, AND UTILIZING ADDITIONAL LEADERSHIP TOOLS. 3. THE THEME FOR THIS YEARS CAMPAIGN WILL BE PARTNERSHIP. 4. THE CAMPAIGN WILL FEATURE ONE COAST GUARD LEADERSHIP COMPETENCY EACH WEEK FOR FOUR WEEKS. THE FEATURED COMPETENCIES WILL BE ALIGNING VALUES, TEAM BUILDING, CONFLICT MANAGMENT, AND HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT. THESE COMPETENCIES WERE SELECTED TO FOCUS ON THE COMMANDANTS THIRD GUIDING PRINCIPAL TO STRENGTHEN OUR PARTNERSHIPS. 5. THE OFFICE OF LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, CG-133, WILL BE FEATURING A GUIDEBOOK ON THEIR WEB SITE (SEE PARA 8) WITH RESOURCES AND TOOLS THAT CAN BE TAILORED AND USED AT THE UNIT LEVEL. UNITS ARE ENCOURAGED TO MAXIMIZE INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY AND USE THE GUIDEBOOK TO STEER NEW IDEAS OF THEIR OWN. RESOURCES COVERED IN THE GUIDEBOOK WILL INCLUDE VIDEOS, BOOKS, MOVIES, GAMES, ACTIVITIES, MARKETING TOOLS, AND PERSONAL LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES. 6. THE SPOTLIGHT ON LEADERSHIP CAMPAIGN CONTEST WILL BE HELD IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE CAMPAIGN TO RECOGNIZE UNITS THAT HELD THE BEST CAMPAIGNS.
