1. The Commuter Transit Subsidy Benefits Program is intended to
encourage employees to use mass transit, thereby reducing energy use
and the impact on the environment. Reference A recently raised the
maximum monthly amount employees can receive for the Commuter Transit
Subsidy Benefits Program from 125 dollars to 245 dollars per calendar
month.
2. Reference B established the maximum allowable transit benefit
subsidy for DHS employees at 245 dollars per calendar month. This
rate increase is effective from 1 March 2013 through 31 December
2013. All other aspects of the Commuter Transit Subsidy Benefits
Program remain in effect as outlined in references C and D.
3. Mass Transit Subsidy Benefit recipients anticipating eligibility
for an increase in their transit benefit subsidy should contact their
designated Fare Media Approving Official. Please note that a
recipient cannot receive more than their actual transportation cost.
