COMDT (CG-1111) IS SOLICITING APPLICATIONS FOR EIGHT E-4 THROUGH E-9 FOOD SERVICE SPECIALISTS (FS) FOR THE 2010 CGCT. 2. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS INITIATIVES AIMED AT RECRUITING, RETAINING AND RECOGNIZING MEMBERS OF THE FS RATING. THESE INITIATIVES INCLUDE THE FORMATION OF A HIGHLY SKILLED TEAM OF CULINARY EXPERTS THAT WILL REPRESENT THE COAST GUARD IN THE LARGEST CULINARY COMPETITION IN NORTH AMERICA AT THE ARMY QUARTERMASTER SCHOOL IN FORT LEE, VIRGINIA. THE TEAM WILL PARTICIPATE IN 14 DAYS OF COMPETITIONS THAT WILL ALSO INCLUDE INTENSE ADVANCE CULINARY TRAINING. THIS COMPETITION PROVIDES AN OUTSTANDING OPPORTUNITY FOR FS PERSONNEL TO SHOWCASE THEIR INDIVIDUAL TALENTS AND ABILITY TO WORK AS A TEAM. EIGHT MEMBERS WILL COMPRISE THE CULINARY TEAM. 3. TO ENSURE THE CGCT IS REFLECTIVE OF THE BEST FS MEMBERS WITHIN THE COAST GUARD, THE APPLICANTS MUST: A. BE PROVEN LEADERS WITH A DEMONSTRATED RECORD OF EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE AND HAVE A BROAD KNOWLEDGE OF ADVANCED CULINARY SKILLS AND FOOD PREPARATION TECHNIQUES. B. HAVE A GENUINE DESIRE TO PERFORM EXTREMELY TECHNICAL AND CHALLENGING CULINARY TECHNIQUES IN A COMPETITION ENVIRONMENT UTILIZING MINIMAL PHYSICAL RESOURCES. C. BE SELF-MOTIVATED AND WORK EXTREMELY WELL IN A TEAM ENVIRONMENT. D. MAINTAIN AN OUTSTANDING MILITARY APPEARANCE, BE PHYSICALLY FIT AND BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH WEIGHT STANDARDS PER REFERENCE A. E. BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY, BOTH IN WRITING AND VERBALLY. F. POSSESS THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF PERSONAL INTEGRITY AND EXEMPLARY COAST GUARD CORE VALUES. G. HAVE COMPLETED AT LEAST ONE ADVANCED CULINARY OR FS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT RESIDENT TRAINING COURSE. H. BE AVAILABLE TO COMPETE 27 FEB 2010 THRU 12 MARCH 2010. 4. ALL E-4 THROUGH E-9 FS WHO MEET THE CRITERIA IN PARAGRAPH 3 ABOVE ARE ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR TO THE CGCT AND ARE ENCOURAGED TO DO SO. 5. ELIGIBLE MEMBERS MAY SUBMIT AN APPLICATION PACKAGE FOR THE 2010 CGCT TO COMDT (CG-1111), VIA THEIR CHAIN OF COMMAND, TO ARRIVE NLT 05 FEB 2010. A. APPLICATION PACKAGES MUST INCLUDE A COVER MEMO. THE COVER MEMO MUST INCLUDE A NARRATIVE EXPRESSING THE APPLICANTS DESIRE TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE CGCT. THIS MEMO MUST EXPLAIN HOW THEY DEMONSTRATE THE CHARACTERISTICS SPECIFIED IN PARAGRAPH 3 ABOVE. B. MEMBERS APPLYING FOR THE POSITION OF TEAM LEADER MUST ALSO SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING IN THEIR APPLICATION PACKAGE: CURRENT LEADERSHIP SKILLS, ABILITY TO WORK IN A HIGH PRESSURE ENVIRONMENT, EXPERIENCE IN HIGH PROFILE LEADERSHIP POSITIONS, EXPERIENCE IN MOTIVATING AND DIRECTING TEAM MEMBERS, ABILITY TO UTILIZE RESOURCES, ADVANCED CULINARY SKILLS AND ABILITY TO INTERACT WITH CIVILIAN/MILITARY FOOD SERVICE EVALUATORS.
