SUBJ: CFO APPROVAL FOR THE 2013 BLACK ENGINEER OF THE YEAR (BEYA)
SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH (STEM) CONFERENCE

1. The 2013 BEYA STEM Global Competiveness Conference will commence
7-9 February 2013 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington,
DC.  Sponsored by Career Communications Group and United States Black
Engineer Magazine, the BEYA STEM conference provides excellent
opportunities for professional development, networking, mentoring,
and recruiting.  The conference is open to all personnel.
2. The Coast Guard Chief Financial Officer, COMDT (CG-8), as the USCG
senior financial officer, has reviewed and approved USCG personnel
attendance and participation at this conference.  This approval
authorizes service obligation of appropriated funds for the purpose
of attending and supporting participation at the 2013 BEYA STEM
Conference.  The signed CFO approval form for this event can be found

3. The BEYA STEM conference also recognizes outstanding professionals
in STEM fields.  REF A solicited nominations for recognition, and it
