SUBJ: FY13 RECRUITING OFFICE CLOSURES
1.  With retention of Coast Guard members at an all-time high and
lower accession demand for new recruits, the Coast Guard Recruiting
Command (CG RC) will close 17 recruiting offices (RO) between March
and June of 2013 to achieve organizational efficiencies.  This
decision and the scheduling of the closures were made last year IAW
approved FY13 resource proposals.  This action is not sequestration
related.  The recruiting mission in the future will be performed by a
streamlined 61 office network focused on accessing the best quality
applicants while applying appropriate emphasis on under-represented
minorities and women.  The closure decisions were based on thorough
analysis of many factors including: distance/proximity between
offices, historical accessions data, and alignment with military
entrance processing stations. In addition, CGRC carefully considered
the recruiting system flexibility required to meet changing recruit
demand in future years.

3. The new RO network and their associated areas of responsibility
(AOR) can be found on the CG RC portal page at
https://cglink.uscg.mil/a8cbb47a.  Closures will be accomplished in a
coordinated manner to enable remaining offices to pick up existing
applicants and new AOR with minimal loss to recruiting effectiveness.
Personnel Service Center and CG RC leadership are committed to a
smooth transition for applicants, the field and recruiters.
4. If you are contacted by a potential applicant, please direct them
to www.GoCoastGuard.com.  Data submitted via the website will be
transmitted to the nearest recruiter based on the zip code provided
by the applicant.  Recruiters can then follow up with those
interested.  Additionally, CG RC now operates an online chat service
that is available on the website to answer applicant questions in
