R 081413Z FEB 13 ALCGPSC 023/13 SUBJ: BASE PORTSMOUTH SHAMROCK INVITATIONAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT A. Military Assignments and Authorized Absences, COMDTINST M1000.8, Articles 1.G.2.d and 2.A.10.b 1. Base Portsmouth Morale, Well-Being, and Recreation (MWR) is sponsoring the nineteenth annual Shamrock Invitational Basketball Tournament to be held at U.S. Coast Guard Base Portsmouth during the period of 13-16 March 2013. 2. This is a double elimination tournament under National Collegiate Athletic Association rules with modifications as to timing, length of games, teams, and rosters. 3. Entry fees: 400.00 dollars per team. Only checks and credit cards will be accepted for payment. Make checks payable to MWR Portsmouth. Entry payments are due no later than 6 March 2013. 4. Teams: The tournament is limited to the first 14 paid teams. Team players must be assigned to the unit they are representing, with the exception of smaller units. Units that cannot field a full team may have up to 3 players from other units that are not entered in the tournament, and they must be noted as such on the roster. A team consists of a maximum of 12 players including the coach. Teams must be comprised of Coast Guard personnel (active duty, Reserve, civilian, Auxiliary, or retired members). More tournament information may be found at http://www.uscg.mil/baseportsmouth/mwr.asp. 5. Special events: Players are eligible to enter a 3-point shootout and half-court shot competition. A complimentary player lunch buffet will be hosted at the Wheelhouse on 14 and 15 March between 1200-1430. Special events are subject to change for scheduling or conflict purposes. 6. Awards: First and second place team members will receive individual trophies. First, second, and third place teams will receive a team trophy. A most valuable player trophy will be awarded to a player on the championship team, selected by the coach. 7. Lodging: Contact the MWR ticket office at 757-483-8690. 8.
