R 101506Z JAN 13 ALCGPSC 005/13 SUBJ: 2013 COAST GUARD ACADEMY INVITATIONAL VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT A. Military Assignments and Authorized Absences, COMDTINST M1000.8 1. The 10th annual Coast Guard Academy Invitational Volleyball Tournament will be held at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT, 15-16 March 2013. 2. The objectives of this tournament are to exhibit sportsmanship and team play, develop a competitive spirit and showcase athletic talent while creating exposure for the competitive volleyball community in the Coast Guard. Last years event was attended by teams from all around the Coast Guard and resulted in 46 hours of volleyball being played in the two-day tournament. 3. Participation is open to teams from all Coast Guard units. Teams may, but are not required to, be mixed gender and may be composed of active duty, reserve, retired, civilian Coast Guard personnel, and dependent spouses. Play is six-on-six. Rosters are limited to 10 players per team. 4. Individuals not associated with a team are welcome to participate and will be grouped together to form a team or will be placed on teams needing and willing to accept other players. 5. There is no limit on the number of teams that may participate. The tournament will be round-robin style with playoffs. The specifics of the tournament play will be dependent upon the number of teams participating. 6. The entry fees are 250 dollars per team and 40 dollars per individual not associated with a team. 7.
