RESULTS

1.  As a follow up to Ref (a), the World Triathlon Corporation
released the results of the military team competition in the 2012
Ironman Triathlon World Championship held in Kailua-Kona, HI on
October 13, 2012.  Team Coast Guard finished in second place out of
the five Services.
2.  Our Coast Guard team consisted of CDR Laura Thompson, Executive
Officer, CG HITRON, and LCDR Michael Danish, attending post graduate
training at the University of Miami.  CDR Thompson completed the race
in 13 hours, 50 minutes, and 47 seconds, and LCDR Danish finished the
race in 9 hours, 36 minutes, and 29 seconds.  LCDR Danish placed
first among military male athletes competing in the competition.
3.  The entire Coast Guard is proud of CDR Thompson and LCDR Danish,
and their achievements serve as an inspiration for all.  I would also
like to thank those commands that allowed these members the necessary
time to compete in this premier athletic event. Bravo Zulu to the
athletes and supporting cast.
