ALCGOFF 051/12, ASSIGNMENT YEAR 2013 OFFICER ASSIGNMENT COMMUNICATIONS 1. AY13 offers many assignment opportunities for officers seeking selection to Special Staff and Liaison positions. 2. Although there are other Special Assignments that will be advertised via the published shopping list that will be released in August, those listed below require early identification of candidates to accomplish necessary background investigations and interviews. The selection process for many of these assignments requires coordination with other Government departments, agencies and staffs at very senior levels. Some overseas billets may require a lengthy language training period. While some of these assignments may have particular operational career paths as a prerequisite, all require candidates with outstanding records of performance, exemplary military bearing, sharp appearance, and superb communication skills. 3.
