IAW Ref.(A), Article 1.C.6.B.3., the Coast Guard has the authority to extend the service of a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) on active duty beyond their mandatory 30-year retirement date. 2. To provide flexibility in meeting Service need, a panel of officers will convene on 31 July 2012 to consider CWOs who request to continue service beyond 30 years. Selection by the Panel for service beyond 30 years does not guarantee a tour extension in the current assignment. All applicants must be available for worldwide assignment. The Panel will select only those CWOs best qualified to fill Service/specialty needs for durations of not less than three months and not more than two years. 3. Application process: Any CWO who will have a minimum of 28.5 years of service by 01 JAN 13 who desires consideration should submit an e-resume by 10 JUL 12. 4. E-resume completion. A. Create an e-resume and select "career extension" from the Position source pull down menu. Ensure the job family block is blank. Enter 202598 in the job code block and click "search." Click the check box in the job basket column next to the "CWO extension past 30 years" position title. Press the "add selected to job basket" button. When complete, press "view job basket" to review your job basket and complete your e-resume. In the comments section of the e-resume address your reasons for applying to the CWO service beyond 30 years process and the desired duration of your service extension. B. All applications require an accompanying command endorsement, called an e-interview. Only endorsements from the immediate command are authorized. In the job endorsement page under the recommendation drop-down menu, commanding officers should choose "make offer" to positively endorse a candidate's application. Comments are highly encouraged. Additional letters of recommendation will not be accepted. 5. CWOs currently serving as temporary officers are not eligible to apply for this Panel (e.g., a permanent CWO serving as a temporary LT or LCDR). CWOs in this status are encouraged to consult Art. 1.A. of Ref.(A) for details on the integration process and the steps to take should they require an extension prior to becoming eligible for integration. 6.
