EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, TO CONTINUE UNTIL 1 JANUARY 2011, UP TO 12 MONTHS OF THE TWO YEAR TIME IN GRADE (TIG) OBLIGATED SERVICE REQUIREMENT FOR VOLUNTARY RETIREMENT MAY BE WAIVED FOR COMMISSIONED OFFICERS, WARRANT OFFICERS AND ENLISTED PERSONNEL. WAIVERS WILL BE APPROVED AT PERSONNEL SERVICES CENTER (PSC) DISCRETION, BASED ON SERVICE NEED (SEE PARAGRAPH 3). TIG WAIVER REQUESTS SHALL BE SUBMITTED PER REF (A), CHAPTER 12. 2. SERVICE NEED WILL BE THE PRIMARY CONSIDERATION BY PSC IN THE WAIVER APPROVAL PROCESS. CURRENT SERVICE NEED INCLUDES THOSE MEMBERS SERVING IN CRITICAL SPECIALTIES OR RATINGS AND/OR POSSESSING CRITICAL SKILLS ALONG WITH OTHER FACTORS, SUCH AS ASSIGNMENT NEEDS. EXAMPLES OF CRITICAL SKILLS INCLUDE SURFMAN, MK92 AND MK75 QUALIFICATIONS. CRITICAL ENLISTED RATINGS INCLUDE, EM, FS, IS AND OS. CRITICAL SPECIALTIES INCLUDE OFFICERS IN THE FIELDS OF LEGAL, INTELLIGENCE, FINANCE, MARINE SAFETY INSPECTIONS AND INVESTIGATIONS, AND C4IT - COMMUNICATIONS. COMMISSIONED WARRANT OFFICER PERSONNEL LEVELS ARE PREDOMINATELY HEALTHY, HOWEVER INDIVIDUAL REQUESTS WILL BE CONSIDERED. 3. ALL ELIGIBLE MEMBERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REQUEST A WAIVER IF THEY SO DESIRE. EACH REQUEST WILL BE CONSIDERED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS, WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS PLACED ON SERVICE NEED, UNIT REQUIREMENTS AND INDIVIDUAL MEMBER DESIRES. 4.
