The Acquisition Logistics program provides oversight and guidance for acquisition projects to sufficiently address all life cycle support elements during the acquisition. It also ensures that new or upgraded facilities are ready to accommodate new assets delivered under the service's broad acquisition portfolio and seeks to improve the transition of those assets into the fleet. Infrastructure
- At Air Station Cape Cod, Mass., construction is about 25 percent complete on a $23.5 million, 93,000-square-foot hangar for the Maritime Patrol Aircraft. A similar hangar complex was completed in 2006 for Air Station Mobile, Ala.
- Pier and shore tie work was recently completed in Miami, the first Fast Response Cutter (FRC) homeport and upgrades have begun on a support building and pier berthing construction in Key West.
- Though pier upgrades to Alameda are complete for the National Security Cutter (NSC), an additional 34,000-square-foot building is under construction to facilitate testing of an Off-Cycle Crew Support concept.
Asset Product Lines
The Asset Project Office's (APO) current work on surface product lines includes:
- Development of provisioning technical documents for NSCs and validation of damage control products onboard the Stratton (NSC 3) ;
- Improving the quality of FRC logistics deliverables from the shipbuilder and installation of a 25-mm Mk 38 machine gun system on the Bernard C. Webber (FRC 1) ;
- Establishing clear lines of responsibilities for OPC logistics products;
- Establishing partnerships with Navy to increase sharing of common parts and logistics products between the NSC and the Littoral Combat Ship; and
- Using commercial-off-the-shelf sparing analysis software to provide optimal sparing recommendations to the RB-M Project Resident Office
