As an acquisition vehicle for fielding the information system, expanded facilities and sensor networks necessary to conduct interagency operations, IOC will rapidly supply capability to the field through an evolutionary acquisition strategy. Leveraging successes of recent interagency pilot projects, the IOC will tailor to meet security needs of individual ports.
Near-term, the project team will focus on deploying an initial increment of capability. This first increment will not only set a national standard for interagency operations but will provide a foundation for incremental and adaptive growth to meet ever changing port security requirements. This first increment will be deployed nationally by the end of 2010.
The project will achieve full operational capability within 7 years.
