Cutter Boats Features

The National Security Cutter (NSC) will carry three boats; one LRI-II and two CB-OTH-IVs.

Long Range Interceptor II

Range: 240 nautical miles at most economical planning speed with 10 percent fuel reserve
Seakeeping: operate in sea state 5; survive through sea state 6

Hull: aluminum
Propulsion: twin in-board diesel; water jet propulsion
Armament: mounts for one M240 7.62 mm general purpose machine guns
Life expectancy: 10 years

Long Range Interceptor

The LRI-II is considered an additional on-scene platform to expand the host cutter's breadth along with delivering rescue and assistance.


Cutter Boat Over the Horizon IV

Mission driver: counter-drug operations
Length: 26 ft
Speed: 40 knots
Range: 200 nautical miles at most economical planning speed with 10 percent fuel reserve
Seakeeping: operate in mid sea state 5 (9 ft); survive through sea state 5 (11 ft)
C4ISR: Scalable Integrated Navigation System (SINS) and standard communications package
Hull: aluminum
Propulsion: inboard diesel, water jet propulsion
Armament: mount for one M240 7.62 mm general purpose machine gun
Life expectancy: seven years

The CB-OTH-IV is considered the quick response boat for the host cutter.
